Queen Victoria's Fringe Brooch Replica
Hire the most complete set of Replica British Crown JewelsWhen Prince Albert died, this ornament was one of the pieces that Queen Victoria put away. It is thought that in 1870, she had the brooch partially dismantled, removing the fringes from either side of the central diamond, making it into a much smaller fringe brooch. It still exists in this form today.
The diamonds from the dismantled fringe sections were probably used to make the small new diamond crown that she wore throughout her widowhood. When Queen Victoria died, the brooch was inherited by her son, King Edward VII. His wife, Queen Alexandra, began wearing the brooch almost immediately, and she kept it until her death in 1925.
