The locket ring of Queen Elizabeth I (known as the Virgin Queen)  is known as the Chequer’s ring as it resides in Chequer’s which is the UK’s Prime Minister’s country residence.  The ring has been an object of mystery and speculation for many years.  It has rarely been viewed by the public, it is a most intensely personal object belonging to Queen Elizabeth I.

The top of the ring is a locket which holds two miniature portraits, one being of herself and the other is a mystery woman, perhaps her mother.  One reason why the ring is so mysterious is because it is so rarely viewed by the public.  It was last exhibited in 2003 and is seen to be in a private collection of the Prime Minister at Chequers
