Queen Elizabeth I Crown

The crown worn by Elizabeth I. Anne Boleyn was the only queen consort in history to be crowned with the Crown of St. Edward, like a monarch in her own right. But Anne felt it was too heavy to wear through the entire ceremony, so Henry had a lighter, more delicate crown made for her to wear during the celebrations. This may be Anne’s crown. None of the original royal jewels from the Tudor era survived. They were all melted down in the English civil wars by Oliver Cromwell.

The coronation of Queen Elizabeth I as took place at Westminster Abbey on 15^th January 1559.  Queen Elizabeth came to the thone at the age of 25, and upon her death, Queen Mary I, reversed the protestant reformation, which was started by her predecessors, so this was the last coronation which was conducted under the authority of the Roman Catholic Church
